Entrepreneurship Success Initiative

Yael Hochberg is the Ralph S. O’Connor Professor of Entrepreneurship and Head of the Entrepreneurship Initiative at Rice University, and serves as Academic Director of the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship. She holds a Research Affiliate position with MIT’s Sloan School of Management and is a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Prof. Hochberg is also Managing Director of the Seed Accelerator Rankings Project (www.seedrankings.com), which publishes the annual ranking of accelerator programs in the U.S.
Prior to her appointment at Rice, Prof. Hochberg was previously on the (tenure track) faculty at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University and most recently was a visiting faculty member at the MIT Sloan School of Management, where she retains a research affiliation. Previously, she was employed in the technology industry in both larger and startup companies. She serves on the advisory board and board of directors for a number of early stage startups. In 2015, she was named one of the world’s 40 under 40 best business school professors by Poets and Quants. In 2016, she was awarded the Ewing Marion Kauffman Prize Medal for Distinguished Research in Entrepreneurship.

Eric Floyd is an Assistant Professor in the Rady School of Management at UCSD.  His research focuses on financial modeling, financial reporting, and disclosure, and has been published in leading journals. Eric holds a PhD and MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BA in Economics from the University of Chicago.

Daniel Fehder is an Assistant Professor of Management and Organization at the University of Southern California. He is an affiliate of the MIT Lab for Innovation Science and Policy. His research focuses on the evaluation of the impact of programmatic interventions into entrepreneurial ecosystems such as Startup Accelerators, Co-Working Spaces, and Startup Competitions. To that end, he has helped manage the Seed Accelerator Ranking Program and has worked closely with the top management at MassChallenge. He is a recent graduate of the PhD program in the Technological Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management Group at MIT Sloan. Prior to MIT, Daniel helped lead a startup as the Senior VP of Business Development for PriceSCAN. He holds an AB from Harvard College, magna cum laude, and a MA from the University of Pennsylvania.

Daniel Lee is a postdoctoral fellow in Entrepreneurship at Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business and a research associate at the Liu Idea Lab for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He earned his PhD in Economics from Georgia State University, and holds his BA in Mathematics and Economics from Emory University. During his time at GSU, Dr. Lee was a CEAR Scholar and was the recipient of a World Institute for Development Economics Research grant from the United Nations University. His research interests include Experimental and Behavioral Economics, Public Economics, and Applied Microeconomics.
